Man exchanges gunfire with Cobb police in bank parking lot

A man fired multiple shots at Cobb County police officers in a Fidelity Bank parking lot Tuesday afternoon, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Police were performing a routine traffic stop at the corner of Cobb Parkway and Bells Ferry Road when a black SUV pulled over in the bank parking lot. The passenger of the SUV got out and opened fire, the news station reported.

Two officers fired back, hitting the suspect.

The man was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, WSB reported.

The GBI has been request to assist in the investigation, spokeswoman Nelly Miles said.
