A person was taken to a hospital with serious injuries after a Gwinnett County house fire Monday afternoon.

The fire happened at a two-story home off Quinn Ridge Drive in unincorporated Snellville, Gwinnett fire Capt. Tommy Rutledge said in a news release. The blaze has since been extinguished.

The fire was contained to an upstairs bedroom, the release said. When firefighters arrived, smoke was bellowing throughout the second floor, and the blaze had caused extensive damage to one room.

The injured person was found by firefighters in the front yard, the release said. No other information was released.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
