A man was shot four times after he chased robbery suspects to a Buckhead apartment complex, Atlanta police said.

Two suspects, including the alleged gunman, are in custody and the victim was taken to the hospital, Atlanta police Officer Stephanie Brown told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Police are still searching for a third suspect.

Ronald Antwon Battle and Nasir Deshon Haddock face armed robbery and attempted armed robbery charges, according to jail records. Haddock also faces aggravated assault and weapons charges. The duo remained in the Fulton County jail Thursday night.

The shooting victim, identified in a police report as Christopher Cage, and friend Jonathan Chica were at Lenox Square when three men approached and tried to rob them, Brown said.

Chica told police the men took Cage’s cellphone and took off in the direction of the Lenox MARTA station, according to the report. Chica said he and one of the suspects got into a fistfight before the suspect ran from the train station.

Brown said Cage chased Haddock to a parking garage at Alexan Lenox Apartments on East Paces Ferry Road in Buckhead and cornered him. Police said Haddock then fired several rounds from his 9mm Ruger, hitting Cage twice in the leg and twice in the torso.

He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in critical, but stable condition, police said.

“(Chica) heard the shots but arrived shortly after the shooting took place,” Brown said. “(He said) that the shooter pointed his weapon at him before placing it in a red bookbag and taking flight towards the construction site” near the apartment.

Battle was taken into custody near the Lenox MARTA station and Haddock was found by a Brookhaven police dog near the construction site, police said.

Battle was out on bond from a May 27 arrest in which he faced charges of obstruction of an officer and theft by receiving stolen property.  Haddock was also charged with aggravated assault, armed robbery, weapons and hijacking a motor vehicle in a July 2 incident, according to jail records.
