An armed fugitive who had been sought since Wednesday afternoon is in custody, Pickens County authorities said Thursday.

“Nicholas Bishop was just arrested,” the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post.

Sgt. Vaughn Kelley was on patrol in the Priest Circle area in search of Bishop, the sheriff’s office said.

“As he traveled Christian Way, a homeowner flagged him down saying that he believed someone was in his camper,” according to the post.

After Kelley identified Bishop, a foot chase followed in the wooded area behind the residence, according to the post. Kelley tackled Bishop and took him into custody.

Bishop had two handguns when he was arrested, officials said. He’s facing a variety of charges.

Bishop went missing after he abandoned a stolen car in the Priest Circle area, authorities said.
