A 10-year-old boy in Columbus was reported safe Tuesday, police said.

Police in Columbus say they have found a 10-year-old boy who was reported abducted Monday night.

Lt. Joyce Dent-Fitzpatrick alerted media via email Tuesday, saying: “At this time, we have located the child. We want to especially thank the community for your tips, calls and effort in assisting us with locating the child.

“The person operating the van has been identified and is a relative. The child is safe. Thanks.”

Columbus Mayor Teresa Tomlinson earlier said no family reported a missing child, the Ledger-Enquirer reported.

The boy was seen being pulled into a white utility van on Ventura Drive near Ballanca Street about 8 p.m., according to multiple media reports. Two 12-year-old boys reportedly witnessed the man pull the boy into the van.
