Boy, 8, on life support after crash, police chase

The crash killed an 8-year-old.

An 8-year-old boy was on life support Tuesday after a crash that involved a stolen car and a police chase, a Fulton County police spokeswoman said.

The stolen car, a black Dodge Challenger, ran into a black Dodge Charger with five people inside at the intersection of Boat Rock Road and Fulton Industrial Boulevard on Monday.

The boy was taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston, Fulton police Cpl. Partrena Smith said.

Two other children and two adults were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Channel 2 Action News.

East Point police Capt. Cliff Chandler said the incident happened when a 21-year-old woman, identified as Ana Kristina Bolton, allegedly stole a car at a gas station in Atlanta about 1 p.m. Monday. Atlanta police then notified other agencies of the carjacking. East Point police spotted the woman and a passenger about 2:40 p.m. in the car along Camp Creek Parkway.

Police didn’t immediately pull the car over, Chandler said, but instead followed closely. The stolen car sped off when the people inside noticed the police following them, he said. The stolen car eventually crashed into the other car.

Bolton was charged with theft by receiving and fleeing and eluding. She is being held in the East Point jail.
