An Austell man has been sentenced to three consecutive life sentences for a streak of armed robberies.

Brandon Allen Holmes, 31, was sentenced by Superior Court Judge L.A. McConnell on Monday for five armed robbery charges, according to the Cobb County district attorney's office.

Prosecutors said between April and May 2015, Holmes pulled a black revolver on the clerk and took money from the cash register at several south Cobb stores — two Family Dollar locations, a Dollar General, an AutoZone and a MetroPCS.

"These five innocent victims were working hard to earn a living for themselves and their families, but because of (Holmes), they now have to live with a fear and anxiety that most of us will never understand," said prosecutor Stephanie Adrean.

Holmes was arrested May 15, 2015, according to Cobb jail records.

Officers found a loaded revolver at his house that matched witness descriptions.

Jury selection began Nov. 7, and the jurors issued the verdict Friday.

Holmes has prior felony convictions out of Ohio, prosecutors said.

"This was not a simple lapse of judgment or a bad decision. This was a man who acted with no remorse, no guilt, just greed," Adrean said.
