A northwest Georgia home where four adults with special needs live was broken into and burned, a fire marshal said.

Two separate fires were set last week at a home on Brookvalley Court in Rome. Fortunately, all of the men living in the group home were away visiting family when the fires occurred.

Neighbor Fred Paul told Channel 2 Action News he doesn’t think anyone from the Floyd County neighborhood purposefully torched the house where his grandson lives.

A charity owns the house and opened it two years ago. The community has come to accept “human beings with challenges,” Director Charlie Schroeder told the station.
