Arrest made in deadly Henry County home invasion

A suspect has been arrested in connection with a home invasion that left two of his alleged accomplices dead last month, Henry County police said Thursday.

Joseph Milton Lyons, 29, of Griffin, was arrested and charged with murder, burglary and aggravated assault for the incident Nov. 30 at the Sable Chase Apartments on Sable Chase Boulevard. He was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force with assistance from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.

Stanley Babb told police he was watching TV when armed men entered his second-floor apartment from the balcony and his roommate grabbed a gun and fired, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported.

During an exchange of gunfire, one of the suspects — 24-year-old Tony Montavis Lyons of McDonough — was shot and killed inside the home, police said. A second suspect, 24-year-old Fredrick Lawrence Jackson of McDonough, was later found dead behind the apartment building, according to authorities. Joseph Lyons allegedly fled the scene. Police said a fourth suspect could be involved.

Joseph Lyons’ murder charge is a result of the deaths that occurred during the commission of the felonies, authorities said.

There are no charges against the men who live in the apartment, police said Thursday.
