An Atlanta man is in jail on murder charges after a deadly double shooting at a Cobb County apartment complex.

Broderick Taylor, 26, was arrested on multiple charges, including two counts of felony murder and two counts of felony aggravated assault, Cobb police said Friday.

The shooting that led to the deaths of Deandre Brooks and Roderick Foster, both of Montgomery, Ala., happened at the Windwood Apartments in Austell on Wednesday night.

Officers responded about 7 p.m. to the 6900 block of Shenandoah Trail and found two men who had been shot, Cobb police Officer Alicia Chilton said.

Brooks, 26, and Foster, 28, were taken to a local hospital, where both later died of their injuries.

Police told Channel 2 Action News the shooting happened while firefighters were on the scene to get a child out of a locked car. The firefighters were not hurt, the news station reported.

Taylor also faces two counts of possession of a firearm/knife during the commission of a crime and one count of convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

Records show Taylor has a long list of arrests on drug- and gang-related charges. He was charged in connection with a 2008 homicide in Austell, Chilton said. However, he was not charged with the murder itself.

Taylor is being held at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center without bond.
