DeKalb County police SWAT officers were called to a residence Friday when a man reportedly barricaded himself inside.

Except he wasn't there.

Channel 2 Action News reported that the man was not inside when authorities entered the home.

The incident began shortly before noon on Emerald Glen in the Circle Stone neighborhood, Channel 2 reported. The man was thought to be alone in the house.

The apparent standoff went on for about five hours before SWAT officers realized the man wasn't in the home.

The man, who is 37 years old, approached his 19-year-old ex-girlfriend, who was walking down her street, Channel 2 reported. He had a gun with him that was visible, and they got into a scuffle over her cellphone.

The woman ran to a neighbor’s house to call for help, and police responded, the station reported. It was believed the man ran into her house.

The man's name has not been released.
