An Indiana woman accused of beating her 2-year-old told Hall County deputies she didn’t want her children anyway, officials said.

Selena Delatorre was staying with friends in the area when Hall County deputies discovered she’d beaten her son with a phone charger cord, sheriff’s spokesman Deputy Stephen Wilbanks said Monday.

The boy’s body had visible injuries in several locations, Wilbanks said.

The discovery came during an investigation into allegations that Delatorre engaged in a sexual act with a 12-year-old boy sometime between Christmas and last month, Wilbanks said.

Wilbanks also said the woman abandoned her children, indicating she no longer wanted them.

Gainesville police arrested the 22-year-old mother and charged her with child molestation, child cruelty and child abandonment.

Delatorre is in custody pending a committal hearing, Wilbanks said.
