Is Chuck E. Cheese doing business under a new name on Grubhub?

Customers have been scratching their heads over the unusual name associated with the restaurant’s locations

Those pining for barbecue chicken pizza from Chuck E. Cheese may have found it hard to find the popular kids spot and eatery on food delivery apps. However, Grubhub users have found a workaround by using a different name in their search for the restaurant’s popular dish.

Several online reports have circulated, saying the national pizza brand possibly has rebranded itself on the popular delivery app Grubhub as an unknown pizza place called Pasqually’s Pizza & Wings. The Texas-based restaurant has more than 610 locations across the country, but when you search for the term “Chuck E. Cheese” on the app, there’s no sign of the brand. However, when searching for the unfamiliar Pasqually’s, a menu that compares with Chuck E. Cheese and local restaurant addresses that are known for the brand pop up.

How was this pizza predicament uncovered?

According to a report by Food & Wine, a Reddit user named u/KendallNeff placed a Grubhub order from a place called Pasqually's Pizza & Wings, under the impression she was supporting a local, mom-and-pop pizza joint. When she received her food, she was slightly suspicious about its origin.

“Just curious,” she texted her Grubhub driver. “Was this food from Chuck E. Cheese?”

The driver, Richard, responded that when he picked up the order, the Chuck E. Cheese had the logo for the “wing restaurant” on its windows. In another bizarre twist, the Pasqually name happens to have a connection to the Chuck E. Cheese universe by way of its fictional chef of the same name.

On top of the confusion about whether rebranding has happened, some have confused the pizza-and-wings spot with that of a small pizza spot in Philadelphia. Pasqually’s Pasta and Pizza, located in West Philadelphia, has no connection to Chuck E. Cheese, but the moniker likeness has also perplexed Grubhub users.

Grubhub’s to-go pizza option under the Pasqually’s Pizza & Wings label can be found in metro Atlanta, Oceanside, California, Denton, Texas, and more. All addresses are associated with Chuck E. Cheese.

The name game became a part of Twitter fodder Monday.

The truth about the name game

Recently, a spokesperson for the arcade-themed restaurant offered some answers to Food & Wine on why the unknown pizza brand has connections to Chuck E. Cheese. In a statement to the magazine, the company confirms that it’s launching a new pizza brand,  Pasqually’s Pizza & Wings, nationwide. The pizza is created and served from the same kitchens of the established Chuck E. Cheese franchises. However, the pizza itself has some differences, including a thicker crust and sauce.

"Pasqually's Pizza & Wings, named after another favorite member of Munch's Make Believe Band, shares kitchen space with the Chuck E. Cheese restaurant, ensuring high-quality, fresh ingredients. Pasqually's Pizza & Wings' recipes use fresh, homemade pizza dough, just like Chuck E. Cheese, but it is a different pizza that features a thicker crust and extra sauce, giving consumers a more flavorful, more premium pizza experience. While Pasqually's Pizza & Wings recipes are currently only available for delivery, select items might be added to the Chuck E. Cheese menu in the future."
