A school bus driver was charged with failure to yield after stopping at a stop sign in an accident that left a child injured, the Georgia State Patrol said Tuesday.

Teresa Malone, 51, of Newnan was not injured in the Friday morning crash, but 7-year-old passenger Kristin Davis was. She was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

According to authorities, Malone was driving the bus when it traveled into the path of a Ford Thunderbird on Ga. 14 and Camp Street. The Thunderbird crashed head on into the bus, GSP said.

Twenty-five students from Moreland Elementary, Smokey Road Middle School and Newnan High School were on the bus at the time of the collision, Coweta schools spokesman Dean Jackson told Channel 2 Action News at the time of the crash.

Thunderbird driver Eddie Sheriff, 61 and passenger Ricardo Ceron Ortize, 44, both of Newnan, were taken to Piedmont Newnan Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
