Henry County police say burglars who shot up a gun shop may be connected to a similar crime in Covington.

About 7:45 p.m. Saturday, police were called to Ed’s Public Safety in Stockbridge after thieves allegedly fired shots into the business, Henry County police spokesman Sgt. Danny Gibbs said.

The gun shop’s owner, Jeremy Filson, told police he closed about 6:30 p.m. and got a call from the alarm company nearly an hour later.

When police arrived, they found a window by the front entrance had been shattered, possibly by a bullet, according to a police report. A 9 mm shell casing was found just five feet away on the ground outside of the store.

The officers also reported seeing a white safe with a dent that could have been made by a bullet.

Nothing was stolen, according to the police report.

The Ed’s Public Safety in Covington was burglarized about 4 a.m. Sunday. Police believe the two cases are connected.
