A Georgia couple was found dead after a massive house fire in Monroe County Saturday evening, officials said.

Morris Adair, 87, and Virginia Adair, 91, were both inside when a fire destroyed their home, according to Monroe County Emergency Services.

A neighbor reported the fire at the home on Strickland Loop in Forsyth shortly before midnight, fire officials said in a statement.

The first firefighters at the scene found the home “almost completely in flames, including the grass and cars around it.”

The firefighters knew that the Adairs lived in the house and used a thermal imaging camera to find them. Their bodies were pulled from the burning home, according to the statement.

“Please keep the family of friends of (Virginia and Morris Adair) in your thoughts and prayers as they deal with this horrific tragedy,” the statement said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The man and woman were taken to a crime lab for an autopsy.

Donald Trump's administration deployed the military to Washington, D.C., in the name of fighting crime, and in an Aug. 11 news conference he mentioned the possibility of military being sent to other large American cities, all of which are led by Black, Democratic mayors. And while Atlanta wasn't included in Trump's list, the city fits that profile under Mayor Andre Dickens. (Photo Illustration: Philip Robibero / AJC | Source: Getty)
