Authorities continue to investigate an apparent accidental drowning at a Cherokee County home after a woman found a dead body in her pool.

The woman discovered the body of Michael Patrick Duchene, 31, of Kennesaw in her pool on Sunday afternoon when she went into her backyard looking for someone’s shoes, sheriff’s office Capt. Jay Baker confirmed to AJC.com.

She told officers she saw a dark object floating in the deep end of the pool and used a cleaning object to bring it up. Once she saw it was a body, she called authorities.

There was reportedly a party at the resident the night before, and Baker said Duchene did not live in the residence off Timberland Drive. The victim was last seen at 6:30 a.m. Sunday.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff’s office.
