Investigators are trying to identify a body found floating in a Barrow County pond Wednesday.

Barrow deputies were sent to the pond off Booth Circle in Winder after being notified that a man’s body was in it, the sheriff’s office said Thursday in a statement.

On Friday, authorities said the body appeared to have been in the water for several days. The body was sent to the GBI Crime Lab in Decatur for identification, but police said they do not expect foul play.

The GBI, the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office and the Barrow County coroner are investigating. Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the GBI’s Athens office at 706-552-2309.
