A small plane crashed in Paulding County on Saturday afternoon, killing the pilot, officials said.

The single-engine plane crashed on Lucas Lane near the Bartow County line just before 5:30 p.m. The pilot was the only person on board, officials said. His identity has not been released.

The plane was flying from Gainesville, Fla., to Calhoun, Channel 2 Action News reported.

The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration are conducting the investigation.
