Body found in Lake Lanier is missing Gwinnett man

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the man whose body was found floating in Lake Lanier on Sunday night was missing Gwinnett County resident Kelly Nash.

Nash was spotted and pulled from the water just before 6 p.m. He was taken to the DeKalb medical examiner for an autopsy Monday.

Sheriff’s deputy Nicole Bailes said the medical examiner will release the cause of his death in a few days pending further tests.

Nash, 25, disappeared from his house off Buford Dam Road on Jan. 5. An exhaustive search effort undertaken by his family wasn't able to locate him.

A $50,000 reward had been offered for information that would help find Nash. Tips were received, but none panned out.

Nash was last seen early on a Monday morning around 3:30. He was discovered missing at 7 a.m. from his home by his girlfriend when she woke up.

Nash’s wallet with cash, his keys and truck were all left behind.

Volunteers quickly formed search parties that scoured the woods near the house and posted fliers seeking information that might help, to no avail.
