Atlanta police have made a second arrest in connection with the July 26 shooting death of an Alabama man along University Avenue.

Claude Dickerson, 29, of Montgomery, Ala., died at Grady Memorial Hospital after being shot in the head in the 600 block of University Avenue, police said.

Jerome Ronald Banks, 30, turned himself Monday, and was booked into the Fulton County Jail, charged with murder, armed robbery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Banks has been arrested and booked into the Fulton jail more than 20 times dating back to 1991, according to online jail records.

Investigators believe robbery was the motive for the shooting.
