A vehicle fire and its subsequent cleanup on I-75 South delayed Tuesday morning commuters for about an hour as they entered northwest Atlanta.

The situation was reported around 6:15 a.m. just north of the West Paces Ferry overpass, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation. Most lanes reopened by 7 a.m.

According to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center, a van went up in flames on the right shoulder. At one point, the fuel spilled out and caused a “river of flames” as it flowed down the road, WSB traffic reporter Mike Shields said.
