The Atlanta Homeward Choir is going to the nation’s most well-known abode - the White House.

To date, supporters have donated $26,200 to send the choir, which is made up of residents of the Central Night Shelter in downtown, will perform at the White House on Dec. 21.

The goal was $25,000.

The money raised does not include the value of round trip tickets donated by Southwest Airlines for the trip.

"God is good," said Donal Noonan, choir director and head of the music ministry at the Catholic Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, where the choir is based. "It's insane what community can do when community comes together."

The fundraising campaign went so well that Noonan plans to get it open to help defray expenses as the season continues.

“The guys are super excited.”

If you don’t make it to Washington, D.C., there’s still a chance to catch the choir on their home turf. The Third Annual Christmas on the Hill will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday at the shrine, 48 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive S.W.
