From rock legends Blue Oyster Cult to jazz singer Maysa Leak, there’s something for every musical taste happening July 20-22 in and around metro Atlanta.

You can also tap into your inner foodie with a sausage-making class that lets you bring home the goodies and a “Dirty South” yoga class to let you channel your more zen side.

SCHOLASTIC ROAD TRIP

The Scholastic Summer Reading Road Trip will park at Switzer Library from 10 a.m. to noon, July 20. This Scholastic festival will feature authors and book signings, crafts, games, activities and special prize giveaways. Children will have the opportunity to meet and have photos taken with fun characters, including Clifford the Big Red Dog, Geronimo Stilton, Dog Man and our library mascot Dewey, the Dewey.

Special guests at the pop-up reading festival will include: Julie Falatko, author of books about Snappsy the alligator and two dogs in a trench coat; Author and illustrator Jonathan Fenske, with his first picture book “Barnacle is Bored”; and Sandra Markle, author of more than 200 nonfiction books for children, including books on science like “What If You Had Animal Eyes” and “What If You Had Animal Feet.”

DIRTY SOUTH YOGA FEST

The Dirty South Yoga Festival, will be held July 20-July 22 in downtown Atlanta, bringing together more than 50 yoga teachers and 12 partner studios for workshops and classes.

Attendees can choose from classic yoga style classes, like hatha and vinyasa flow, to those designed to meet more specific needs, like “Yoga for Anxiety” and “CBD ZinYin Yoga”. Music lovers can flow to live DJ sets in classes like “808 & Meditate” and eclectic, upbeat sounds in “Vibe and Flow”.

Food trucks serving healthy fare and a makers’ market featuring local, consciously made goods will be onsite as well. Complimentary spa and intuitive treatments will be offered as part of a VIP package.

NIGHT OF JAZZ AND SOUL WITH MAYSA LEAK

Jazz and R&B performer Maysa Leak will be in concert with Joey Sommerville, Kim Waters and Marion Meadows Saturday at the Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre in Mableton as part of the Wade Ford Summer Concert Series.

The Grammy-nominated Leak celebrates her 25th year as a solo recording artist. She’s performed with Stevie Wonder for a year before becoming the lead singer for Incognito in the 1990s. In 1995, she recorded her first solo album.

Maysa kicks off the summer with her new album, “Love is a Battlefield,” a hand-picked collection of Maysa’s favorite songs, redone with her unique soulful twist.

SAUSAGE MAKING CLASS

You can now brag to your dinner guests about your sausage-making skills.

Join others at Pine Street Market for a hands-on sausage-making workshop that explains a variety of grinding, casing and cooking methods. Participants take home two pounds of their own sausage creation.

This class includes a lunch of beer braised bratwurst, country sides, and beverages. Refunds are not available for missed classes.

Blue Oyster Cult , which got its start on Long Island, N.Y., brings its unique sound to the Variety Playhouse on July 21.
