NINA SIMONE: FOUR WOMEN

See this production currently running at Kenny Leon's True Colors Theatre during ELEVATE, the annual public art festival taking place in Southwest Atlanta and enjoy a 50 percent discount on tickets. The play is set in 1963 just after the bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama. Using a song by artist-turned-activist Nina Simone as a framework, the play shares the stories of four women who suffered from self-hatred due to the color of their skin. $15 (with code ELEVATEATL). 7 - 9 p.m. Oct. 17. GOOD CHARLOTTE NORTH AMERICAN TOUR

Pop Punk band Good Charlotte hits Atlanta with the tour supporting their newest album "Generation Rx." After disbanding in 2011, vocalist Joel Madden, guitarists Benji Madden and Billy Martin, bassist Paul Thomas and drummer Dean Butterworth went on a mission to find themselves. EDGAR A POE EXPERIENCE

Take a haunted journey into the mind of Edgar Allen Poe during opening night of this immersive theatrical event based on Poe's work. Created by Brian Clowdus, Founder and Executive/Artistic Director of Serenbe Playhouse in partnership with The Wren's Nest, the event which runs through Oct. 31, highlights four of Poe's most famous tales. Guests will experience a visit from the Raven, hear the story of the Tell Tale Heart, witness The Fall of the House of Usher and attend a haunted dinner party hosted by a Red Masked presence. $45-$50. 8 p.m. Oct. 17 - 31.
