Olympic bronze medalist Ibtihaj Muhammad will be in Atlanta Saturday for a free voter turnout rally.

Muhammad became the first woman to wear a hijab while representing the United States at the Olympics.

The “Make History with Ibtihaj: Atlanta Muslim Election Rally” will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, 100 Ivan Allen Blvd. The rally is open to the public.

Muhammad, who won a medal for sabre fencing at the Summer Olympics in Rio, plans to speak about the importance of voting, especially for Georgia Muslims. Representatives of the Republican, Democratic, Libertarian and Green Parties are also invited to speak at the event.

The event is hosted by a coalition of Atlanta Muslims, including the Georgia Muslim Voter Project , I-PAC Georgia, the Muslim Mix and the Georgia chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations .

There’s been a big push to register more Muslims to vote not only in the presidential election, but in state and local elections as well. So far, the Georgia Muslims Voter Project has registered more than 1,000 new voters.

Volunteers will also be on hand to help voters at the rally identify their proper county polling locations.
