Kevin Benton has won the T-Shirt Design Contest for the 2017 AJC Peachtree Road Race, after two of his designs were selected as finalists. The one he calls "American Peach" won.

Benton, a graphic designer living in Lawrenceville, said he entered the contest for a chance to “commemorate the biggest 10K in America held on the most beloved holiday in our country.”

“Winning would be a cool notch on the belt for any local designer,” Benton said.

Winning this contest is especially significant for Benton because, he said, it shows how far his design skills have come. He said he took a digital media class at the University of West Georgia which had students enter the T-Shirt Contest. Although he scored well in the class, he did not place in the top five designs.

“I entered the contest this year to see how I would fare after a lot of hard work to better myself as a designer,” Benton said. “I’m very proud to say the least!”

Benton said his design for “American Peach” focused on patriotism, fun, and the energy felt around town during the race.

Congratulations, Kevin Benton!
