Looking for a way to support breast cancer awareness and stay fit? Attend the 2016 DeKalb Breast Cancer Awareness 5k Run/Walk, which will be held on Oct. 22 as part of an event aimed at supporting local residents affected by the disease.

The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Northlake Mall and features activities including health screenings, healthy cooking demonstrations, a live remote with Darlene McCoy of Praise 102.5, music from the Cedar Grove High School band and an appearance by the Atlanta Falcons cheerleaders.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to talk to DeKalb County representatives about recycling and upgrading to 65-gallon containers. They can also meet with county representatives who can help residents dispute their water bills.

Register for the run/walk online or from 7 to 8:30 a.m. at the event. All proceeds from the breast cancer awareness race will benefit Oakhurst Medical Centers.
