BaconFest sizzles on Saturday in Old Fourth Ward

BaconFest is probably the saltiest, crispiest, bacon-themed event taking place Saturday, March 26, in an outdoor setting.

The 16-year-old festival raises money for Dad’s Garage Theatre, a non-profit theater with an unhinged approach to drama.

This year's fest features bands, games and food, will take place at Dad's new garage, 569 Ezzard Street, just off of Edgewood Avenue in the Old Fourth Ward, where the theater made its new home just this year.

The folks at Dad's Garage will be frying up about 2,500-pounds of bacon for their hungry patrons, but there will be many other food options as well. Don't expect a visit from Kevin Bacon, though he did make the scene one year.

The festival runs from 1-6 p.m., and will include hobo wine tasting, naughty face painting, human foosball, a flip cup tournament, a video game village and an hygienic kissing booth.

Here’s what you need to know about making it at BaconFest:

•This is a 21 and up festival, at which open containers will abound. Leave the minors at home.

•Also leave the dogs at home, except licensed service animals.

•There will be beer flowing, as mentioned, and there is no parking at the event. Patrons are encouraged to take Lyft, Uber, MARTA (get off at the King Memorial Station), or walk to ensure safety.

•Tickets are in three categories of indulgence: Portioned Porking ($25 online, $30 gate); Bottomless Bacon ($45 online, $50 gate); and Go WHOLE HOG! ($85, $90 gate).

•The bacon fries, rain or shine.
