It's been a few years since we've enjoyed seeing country singer and actress Reba McEntire on our televisions on a weekly basis. Her run on the ABC sitcom "Malibu Country" ended in 2013 after one season, and prior to that, her hit TV series, "Reba," ran for six seasons from 2001 to 2007 and has been in syndication on multiple networks.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, McEntire has signed on to star in and executive produce a new episodic dramatic series for ABC.

"Desperate Housewives" creator, Marc Cherry is behind the developing script of the show that is described as a Southern Gothic soap opera — quite a far cry from "Reba."

The story begins as an act of terrorism happens during a Fourth of July parade in fictitious Oxblood, Kentucky, according to the show description. An FBI agent is sent to work with the local sheriff and that darker secrets are uncovered.

Reba’s exact role has not yet been revealed, nor have additional actors in the cast, but with pilot season coming up, we expect to hear that soon and, of course, we’ll pass it on to you. Right now let’s just focus on the fact that Reba is coming back to television.
