Lin-Manuel Miranda tapped for new Disney live-action 'The Little Mermaid'

Lin-Manuel Miranda has already conquered Broadway, now the "Hamilton" writer, producer and star will turn in his waistcoat for a pair of fins.

Miranda has been tapped to co-produce and write new songs for Disney's newest foray into turning a cartoon classic into a live-action movie, Variety reported.

He will work with Oscar-winning composer Alan Menken. Menken, along with the late Howard Ashman, gave the soundtrack to many a girl's childhood when they composed the music for the 1989 cartoon version of "The Little Mermaid."

Recently Miranda, who also wrote the music for the upcoming Disney animated feature "Moana" took control of Disney's Instagram account, posting videos of himself singing Disney songs.

One of the videos he posted was himself singing "Under the Sea."

He is also starring in "Mary Poppins Returns."

There is no date set for "The Little Mermaid."
