Wendy’s plans to have self-service ordering kiosks at its 6,000-plus establishments later this year.

Investor's Business Daily reported it will be up to the franchisees whether to deploy the labor-saving technology.

Wendy’s President Todd Penegor said some franchise locations have been raising prices to offset wage hikes.

In addition to the kiosks, Wendy’s also plans on releasing a mobile ordering and payment app by the end of the year.

Fast food rival McDonald’s has also been testing self-service kiosks.
