Atlanta-based Capella Hotel Group will build its first metro area hotel near the North American headquarters of German auto giant Porsche.

The 214-room hotel, which will carry Capella’s Solis Hotel flag, will break ground in late March and open sometime in 2017, officials with the project said Wednesday.

The property at Two Porsche Drive on the east side of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport will include 6,500 square feet of event space, a 3,600-square-foot ballroom, and a rooftop lounge with panoramic views of the Porsche handling course at the nearby Porsche Experience Center.

“We are proud to be part of the unique and legendary experience Porsche creates for its customers,” Horst Schulze, Capella Hotel Group chairman and CEO, said in a statement. “We will add a sophisticated hotel to the complex that reflects the high standards of excellence for which Porsche is renowned.”

The hotel will be designed by HOK Architects firm, which also designed Porsche’s North America headquarters. Peter Silling & Associates will craft the hotel’s interior design.

Solis Hotels have opened in China, Ireland and Russia. In addition to the Atlanta-area hotel, the company plans to open a 27-story hotel next summer in Orlando.

Donald Trump's administration deployed the military to Washington, D.C., in the name of fighting crime, and in an Aug. 11 news conference he mentioned the possibility of military being sent to other large American cities, all of which are led by Black, Democratic mayors. And while Atlanta wasn't included in Trump's list, the city fits that profile under Mayor Andre Dickens. (Photo Illustration: Philip Robibero / AJC | Source: Getty)
