An Ohio company will be opening a 200-worker regional office in Georgia as part of its contract to provide managed care services for Medicaid in the state.

Dayton-based CareSource announced plans this week to add 300 jobs, 200 of them in Atlanta, to support the new business and establish a southern regional headquarters. About 100 jobs will be added in Dayton, the company said.

The expansion will take place by next July, officials said.

The 26-year-old company currently serves more than 1.4 million Medicaid members in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana.

CareSource was one of four insurers chosen by the Georgia Department of Community Health to administer the Medicaid managed care program.

Also named were Amerigroup, Peach State Health Plan and WellCare.
