Cosmetics seller Avon said Wednesday it plans to close a distribution center in Suwanee as part of a corporate cost cutting effort that will eliminate 250 jobs.

New York-based Avon said the decision to close plants in metro Atlanta and California is part of an effort to “right-size our U.S. supply chain footprint, reduce complexities and restore the health of the U.S. business,” the company said in a statement.

Orders handled by the Suwanee branch will move to a facility in Ohio “in the coming months,” Avon said in a news release, and the move is expected to be completed in the summer.

Avon, which recorded $11.3 billion in revenue in 2011, has vast network of independent sales agents. The company laid out a cost cutting effort in December to streamline its business. The company said at the time it would eliminate 1,500 jobs as part of a plan to cut $400 million in expenses by the end of 2015.
