The Atlanta Braves said Tuesday they will bring the flavor of Athens to SunTrust Park, announcing a partnership with the Classic City’s noted Terrapin Beer Company for a taproom and microbrewery.

The Terrapin Taproom will be operated by restaurant company Delaware North and feature Atlanta’s Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q, and next door will be a Terrapin microbrewery called the ATL Brew Lab. The partnership with Fox Bros. and plans for a brewpub had been previously announced as the Tomahawk Taproom.

Terrapin, one of Georgia's best-known craft brewers, recently sold a majority stake to the craft beer division of brewing behemoth MillerCoors. MillerCoors was previously named the Braves official beer sponsor.

Both the taproom and microbrewery will be open year-round, the partners said in a news release, and brewmasters will experiment with new styles and “baseball-themed brands.” It will open in time for the first game next spring, the release said.

“We wanted to partner with Terrapin because they’ve been crafting beers right up the road in Athens and have developed a strong southern following, so we knew right away they would be a natural fit with the Braves,” Braves President of Business Derek Schiller said in the release. “The Terrapin Taproom will pair Terrapin’s freshest and newest beers with some down-home southern barbecue, which is sure to excite all of Braves Country.”
