What was Mike Luckovich thinking?

It seems transgender people have become scapegoats for some on the right. Some of these same right-wingers proudly fly the Gadsen “Don’t tread on me flag,” which is about respecting their liberties, so why is it okay for them to not let trans people be who they are? I like this cartoon because I feel strongly that we should be kind and accept that we are all unique. Also, I feel like I accomplished something drawing a cartoon with few words.

Mike Luckovich is the award-winning editorial cartoonist for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He has twice been recipient of the Pulitzer Prize for editorial cartooning, in 1995 and 2006. He was a Pulitzer finalist in 1986. Mike joined The Atlanta Constitution staff in 1989, and he rarely cleans his office.
