When the sports department asked if I’d do a Braves cartoon for each day of the World Series, I agreed because I want to be team player, but was kind of dreading it, because I don’t follow sports much and was going to be doing my daily editorial cartoons on top of that.

Fortunately, there were so many great themes to draw cartoons on, it was a blast!

The first cartoon I did on the Braves in the series was about how Joc Peterson’s pearls had become a thing.

In my final cartoon, where Hank Aaron’s celebrating on a cloud above Minute Maid stadium, the pearls made another appearance around Hank’s neck.

I also worked in a Braves Halloween cartoon and a Thanksgiving scene involving the Astros. Part of the fun of drawing these cartoons was the joyfulness and positivity of the Braves players.

After an insurrection and the ongoing but dwindling pandemic, I loved getting to focus on those guys!
