There is a case for major transit systems, including Atlanta’s, to raise their fares, according to a local transportation analyst. In New York, residents get a great pocketbook deal by using the subway when compared with the cost of driving. That gap doesn’t really exist here, but MARTA could invest more in its system by hiking fares, especially for riders going to the airport, and then adding trains and increasing ridership.
