Dems always promise far more than they deliver
Well before the 2016 elections, the Democrat Party was drifting toward becoming more politically left-wing, bordering on socialism. Trump supporters saw Hillary Clinton continuing the failed policies Obama initiated during his presidency. The people didn’t want government-mandated health care or more of the oppressive rules and regulation that eroded our freedoms. The people didn’t want more of Obama’s apologizing or his obvious intent to tinker with our Constitution. Socialism has thwarted the growth of almost every country that tried it; it doesn’t work! And I defy anyone to show me any place it’s succeeded. Much of our mainstream media seems infatuated with this losing philosophy, but unable to explain and convince anyone why they embrace such a divisive, freedom-denying form of governance. Mainstream media’s job is to contrast our current form of governing against what the Democrats want for this country – a way of life that has always promised more than it can deliver.

Ga. Tech transgressions demand consequences
Regarding “Audit slams high living by officials” (News, July 28), because of repeated occurrences, the public has come to expect corruption and mismanagement in politics. However, we do not expect these at an institution of higher learning such as Georgia Tech. Apparently, we were wrong. That these individuals would allegedly abuse their respective positions for personal gain is reprehensible. The fact that university President G.P. “Bud” Peterson was unaware of these transgressions as well as others recently reported by the AJC indicate that he lacks the ability to effectively oversee the school. If Peterson himself has any ethics, he will do the right thing and resign. A leader with more effective management skills is needed to guide Georgia Tech to the prominence and prestige it once enjoyed.
