Mike Luckovich: The Round File for February 2016

Mike's comment: The Republican Party is dying, but this didn’t work, so I abandoned the idea for now.

Mike's comment: Jeb putting his brother out on the campaign trail doesn’t seem like a winning strategy. I kind of liked this idea, but I’ve hit poor Jeb so much, I figured I’d move on.

Mike's comment: This issue is a big deal to me but I wasn’t happy with this water fountain approach. Fortunately, for cartoonists, there’s The Donald.

Mike's comment: This was my first idea after the Pope and Trump got into it this week.

Mike's comment: This was my second idea. I liked it, but....

Mike's comment: But I ended up going with this one. It was published Friday, Nov. 19.

Mike's comment: I feel like I had a bad week, even though there were some good topics. I struggled to come up with a good one on Marco Rubio’s robot act at the debate. Here’s my first sketch, which stunk.

Mike's comment: Sketch 2 on Rubio stunk also.

Mike's comment: I ended up doing a lame final cartoon on Rubio because I ran out of time.

Mike's comment: Jeb’s been a Godsend for cartoonists, but I didn’t love this idea.

Mike's comment: This idea was OK, but I passed on it.

Mike's comment: This one had possibilities -- comparing Hitler and the Donald, but it didn’t quite work.

Mike's comment: This idea on the Democratic debate was so-so and didn’t quite capture things.

Mike's comment: I ended up doing this one that runs Sunday and that I actually liked, so my bad week ended on a positive note.
