Gray and cream tones run throughout the 13,000-square-foot Atlanta loft with exposed brick walls. Homeowner Andrea Costa said she wanted a quiet palette in the ethereal loft. “When someone walks into the space, how do you want them to feel? An urban Southwest style fills Kaitlin Ponce’s Atlanta loft, but woven in are softer, feminine details like the red floral vase on the coffee table, throw pillows from Anthroplogie and the green velvet of the armchair. “I wanted a cool space where people could kind of gather, and also it is my place where I hang out and want to be comfy,” said Ponce. Kevin and Diana Sheldon added bright and modern color to their Atlanta loft by painting their staircase in Sherwin-Williams Impulsive Purple, Brave Purple and a bright cheery red. Janet Mozley’s Buckhead loft has brick walls with high ceilings and exposed ductwork that give the space an urban vibe. “I like to see all the mechanisms,” said Mozley. “In order to cover it you have to drop the ceiling tremendously, and then you lose the feeling of the loft environment.” Text by Shannon Dominy. A unique art piece by Cathy Ehrler fills one wall of her Atlanta loft. Titled “DNA,” the multimedia piece is a painting of a tree in grayscale with black and white family photos collaged onto the trunk. Names of Cathy and her husband’s ancestors are woven into the work. Homeowner Jeff Schaffrick added bamboo floors to the second- and third-floor “seating decks” in his Atlanta loft, which was once a lumber warehouse in the city’s Castleberry Hill neighborhood.
