Poul Olson knew when he purchased his Atlanta loft in 2015 that he would want to remodel most of the unit. He’d been looking for a loft in the area for a while, so when he found City View Lofts, he knew it was the right fit.

“I also wanted a project,” said Olson, “that I could make the unit according to my own taste.”

He completely gutted the kitchen, remodeled both bathrooms and replaced the flooring. This year he replaced the stairs, too.

“The original stairs were scratched, so I had painted them as kind of a stop gap approach,” he said. “I replaced them myself with walnut treads in the last four months and stained those.”

Olson worked with an interior designed from Chosen Interiors to come up with a look for his space that was stylish and fit his tastes.

“I think it was helpful hearing her thoughts on how the space could come to life and then lining up her vision with my personal tastes,” he said.

They settled on a grayscale color palette with modern and industrial vibes, painting the ceilings black to mask the exposed ductwork and create a cozier feeling, especially in the loft bedroom.

“I wanted to create a serene area,” said Olson. “I wanted it to be livable and calm me down when I went up there to go to sleep.”
