Homeowners decorate with collected items from more than 50 countries

A layering of rugs complements the colorful furniture and accessories in the living room, which also has handpainted peacock drapes.

Light fills the two-story living room from the massive window. The wall looks like brick, but is really a dimensional faux treatment by Fred Cox Designs. The holiday decor includes a Christmas tree in an olive pot.

The fireplace earns its spot as a focal point in the living room. The wood was collected by Kim Doherty and applied above the fireplace, framed by wooden wings that were in a Virginia home. For the surround, Doherty placed seashells in a mosaic, spray painted them black and painted them to look like rustic iron. A taxidermied pheasant and candelabra decorate the rustic mantel.

Cabinets and open shelving are key elements in the kitchen.

Kim Doherty's style is evident in the dining room, where antique trays are grouped above the mantel, and one of the creative Christmas trees in the home is made of lampshades.

A painted striped ceiling is just one of the examples of Kim Doherty's fearless design style. The chandelier is from Venice, one of many items from her global travels with her husband, Tom.

The dining room wallpaper actually is composed of pages from an 1880s ledger found at the Braderie de Lille antiques market in France. Accessories include cloches the homeowners found at markets around the world. T

The home's bohemian style is seen in the colorful prints for the bedding and holiday banner, and the artistic accents in the guest room.

The British flag inspired the design for the guest room dresser.

Old weathered doors from Burma open to a built-in bar. Kim Doherty painted the vintage chest of drawers, given to her by a friend, in the style of a bone inlay Moroccan piece.

The altar, decorated with religious icons Kim Doherty has collected, is a favorite place for her to take a breath and pause during her day.

The home's global boho vibe continues in the master bedroom. "We have also traveled the world and seek out and love hunting through markets, whether in Prague or Thailand," Kim Doherty said.

Kim Doherty brought the book wallpaper back from Paris. The armoire doors open to a secret passageway that leads to her studio.

The upstairs guest bedroom has jewel-toned holiday decorations with some accessories from the homeowners' travels.

In the loft, homeowner Kim Doherty used vintage pennants to fashion Christmas tree wall art.

One of the home's 3 1/2 bathrooms, which is wallpapered with pages from a scientific illustration book, is ready for guests during the Dec. 2 Historic Norcross Holiday Tour of Homes.

Red furniture and snowflake art join with year-round items, like the seashell chandelier, on the porch.

The homeowners can enjoy their stone fireplace while relaxing on the back porch swinging bed.

The stone fireplace was added when the Doherty family moved in, and is a stunning focal point in the backyard.

The colorful chicken coop uses old wagon wheels and spindles from Europe, along with handpainted details and fringe.

The homeowners added a detached garage for Tom Doherty's car collection, which includes a
1972 BMW 2002 Tii, 1965 Porsche 356 and 1985 Porsche 911.

Kim and Tom Doherty bought their Norcross home in 1993. She owns Meraki, an interiors business.
