Photos: Castleberry Hill loft is the perfect downsize for couple

Art from Thailand, Istanbul and their own families fill the Castleberry Hill loft of Diana and Kevin Sheldon. In a large gallery wall that stretches the length of their staircase there are paintings from Italy, a mermaid figurine from Alaska, wood carvings from Thailand.

Homeowner Diana Sheldon was inspired to begin painting mannequins when she saw one in a hair salon. Since then she has taken one of her mannequins to Burning Man, and she is now preparing for an art show. So far her mannequins all have a floral, organic theme. “They’re blossoming you could say,” said Diana. “The female form is incredible in all its iterations.” Text by Shannon Dominy. A cushy red leather sofa from Wayfair is one of Diana and Kevin sheldon’s favorite pieces of furniture. The exposed brick and stone is one of Kevin and Diana Sheldon’s favorite design elements of their Atlanta loft. When they decided to downsize in 2017, the stone features of their loft are one of the things that drew them to it. Their master bedroom shows this feature to a lovely effect. Kevin and Diana Sheldon bought their 1,600-square-foot loft in 2017 after deciding to downsize twice, first from a six bedroom home and then from a townhome in Haynes Park to their current loft.
