NatureBox offers something different, an online subscription service to 100-plus snacks ranging from jerky, popcorn and granola, to nuts, chips and dried fruits. As www.naturebox.com

The company guarantees its “nutritionist-approved” products are free of high-fructose corn syrup, trans-fats, partially hydrogenated oils, and artificial flavors and colors.

Our taste-testing panel sampled four complimentary snacks (4 to 5.1 ounces each): Southern BBQ Sunflower Kernels, Sourdough Cheddar Pretzels, Guacamole Bites (guacamole-flavored corn sticks) and Praline Pumpkin Seeds. All of them were crunchy and tasty, though we thought the pretzels and corn sticks were way salty. Would we subscribe to the service? We’d have to taste other snacks before committing, but we like the concept.
