Backstreet Boys have announced they are releasing a Christmas album, titled “A Very Backstreet Christmas,” later this year. It will be the boy band’s first album since the band got back together and released “DNA” in 2019.

“It’s been nearly 30 years in the making but we’re FINALLY putting out a Christmas album and couldn’t be more excited to share it with you all. Tell your friends the holidays start early this year,” the group said in their Instagram post announcing the album.

The band, made up of Nick Carter, AJ McLean, Brian Littrell, Kevin Richardson and Howie Dorough, plan to release the album October 14, and pre-orders are available now.

The album will include 13 songs — three originals and 10 holiday classics. Christmas albums have proved to be extremely beneficial to artists that already have established fan bases.

Their Instagram post featured one of the covers, a rendition of WHAM’s “Last Christmas,” which has been a Christmas mainstay since its release.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Dorough said the album had up to 50 songs at one point, but they cut it down.

“Believe it or not COVID gave us the gift of time to work on this record,” Dorough said in the interview. “We started working on this about two years ago. Normally, during regular times, we’re always on tour.”
