Months after Atlantans took part in #MyPersonalPeachtree earlier this year, the 51st running of the AJC Peachtree Road Race is happening on Thanksgiving Day.

Traditionally occurring on the Fourth of July, this year’s 10K was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. But runners and walkers alike woke up bright and early on Nov. 26 to take on the tradition before digging into Thanksgiving dinner.

Since the race is virtual in 2020, runners don’t have to take the usual route that begins at Lenox Square and ends at Piedmont Park. They can create their own 6.2-mile routes and must complete their 10K and submit their results between 12:01 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 26 and 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29.

“After initial feedback from participants, this window has been extended beyond its original 24-hour period,” the Atlanta Track Club noted on their FAQ page.

Participants took to Twitter to share their unique races.

Taking full advantage of the race happening off location, one participant completed the AJC Peachtree Road Race in Syndey, Australia.

Not everyone joined the virtual race, but some shared their support for dedicated participants.

Once participants complete their runs, they can submit their results using the Virtual Running of the AJC Peachtree Road Race App. Then, check the race results here.
