HAPEVILLE

The Prestige at Hapeville Performing Arts Center

A trio of heavy metal rockers known as The Prestige riff on the deepest tracks of all and tackle the original long-hair music. Musicians Jeff Blanks, Matthew Trautwein and Matthias Young devote nearly two hours to wrapping their heads and fingers around classical music. They’ll bop to some Bach one moment, then blast a bit of Chick Corea the next. It all takes place within the intimate confines of Hapeville Performing Arts Center.

8 p.m. Feb 21. $10 advance online; $15 at the door. Hapeville Performing Arts Center, 599 N. Central Ave., Hapeville. 404-474-8332, www.academytheatre.org.

DORAVILLE

“No Time For Sergeants” at Doraville Library

Looking for some afternoon escapism? Doraville Library offers some in the form of this 1958 comedy classic. Way before he helped make Mayberry a household word, Andy Griffith starred as Will Stockdale, a good-hearted country bumpkin who finds himself drafted in the Air Force. Instead of soaring to great heights, Will drives his cohorts crazy. Mervyn LeRoy, who helmed “Mister Roberts” and produced “The Wizard of Oz,” directs.

2 p.m. Feb. 22. Doraville Library, 3748 Central Ave, Doraville, 770-936-3852, www.dekalblibrary.org/branches/doraville.html.

SANDY SPRINGS

Killer Beaz at The Punchline

A true comedic travesty may be the fact that Truett Beasley, best known for more than two decades on the comedy circuit as Killer Beaz, has yet to score serious stardom. He would definitely be at home alongside the Blue Collar crew. Club audiences, however, are the ones who win big by still having the opportunity to see Killer Beaz up close and personal. Expect his rat-a-tat delivery, observational humor and that trademark line, “Save up!” delivered in a Southern drawl. Don’t be surprised to hear choice picks from his most recent comedy disc, “Don’t Ever Touch Anybody You Don’t Know,” on the Warner Bros. label.
