Bantam + Biddy coming to Midtown
Chefs Shaun Doty and Lance Gummere are set to open another one of their popular chicken restaurants on Jan. 5 on Crescent Avenue in Midtown. It will be the third restaurant from the duo, after Bantam + Biddy in Ansley Mall and Chick-a-Biddy in Atlantic Station. In addition to a breakfast menu and lunch and dinner plates with pastured poultry and organic, seasonal vegetables, the new restaurant will feature an espresso bar serving Batdorf & Bronson coffee. 1050 Crescent Ave., Atlanta. bantamandbiddy.com.
Cacao Buckhead closed by fire
A fire that started at Peachtree Bikes last week closed Cacao Atlanta Buckhead, located in the same strip mall on Peachtree Road. Soon after, there was a plea for financial help on the gofundme crowdfunding site. Cacao Atlanta Chocolate Co., founded by Kristen Hard, a pioneer of bean-to-bar, origin-driven chocolate in Atlanta, also has a factory on the Westside and a Virginia-Highland store. "Basically, the two stores fund the entire business of production," Hard said last week. 1046 N Highland Ave. cacaoatlanta.com.
Arianne Fielder new Parish mixologist
We suspected it, and now it's been confirmed. Arianne Fielder (recently at Article 14) has been named the new mixologist at Parish, joining new chef Zeb Stevenson (recently at Livingston) for what should be an interesting mix of tatted talents. Last week, Fielder was mixing drinks and Stevenson was making snacks for a party at Parish to help launch the Old Fourth Distillery Kickstarter campaign. They greeted friends and joked that working under the same roof would make them Atlanta's mixologist and chef "dream team." Food and beverage changes will be official in early 2014 with more details to follow. 240 N. Highland Ave. N.E., Atlanta. 404-681-4434, parishatl.com.
